Highway Noise Barriers
Hanson offers both concrete Post-and-Panel Barrier systems and our advanced Durisol Sound Absorptive Noise Barrier Systems.

Our standard concrete barrier systems offer the following advantages:
Attractive — the cedar-stake random-board-length finish on the homeowner’s side resembles an attractive wooden fence
Durable — resistance to rust, rot, fire and warping ensures a design life well in excess of 30 years
Eco-riendly — minimal environmental disturbance — the post itself has a footprint of only 16 inches by 14 inches
Quickly installed — auger holes, place the anchor bolts in holes that are properly spaced and plumbed, pour concrete and allow to cure. Slide panel into post grooves, grade and landscape
Reliable designs — depth and diameter of concrete piers designed to coincide with subsurface conditions

Versatility
Easily transition to varying ground level, and can be installed at angles or curves
and in narrow right-of-way conditions, reducing the need to remove valuable trees and landscaping
Not only control noise and sight pollution, but also serve as security barriers in highway, industrial complex and public utility applications and housing developments

Applicable Specifications
The level of highway noise is generally in the range of 80 db. The U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration sets 70 db. as the maximum design noise level imposed on most common adjacent land uses.

Make note that noise levels follow a logarithmic curve, which means that a reduction from 80 db. to 70 db. actually results in a 50 percent lower volume of noise. Superior Precast, Inc., noise barrier has recorded reductions of 10 db. and higher, which brings the noise level well within the federal guidelines.

Durisol
